A man and two women with Australian citizenship certificates
Two members of the Bundaberg Hospital's Emergency Department team Nelson Chang and Namita Thapa recently celebrated receiving their Australian citizenship.

May marked a special milestone for two valued members of our Emergency Department team at Bundaberg Hospital, who officially became Australian citizens.

Two of our Registered Nurses Namita Thapa, originally from Nepal, and Nelson Chang, originally from Singapore, took the pledge of citizenship in a heartfelt ceremony.

Attending the ceremony in support were Emergency Department colleagues NUM Sue Smith and RN Anne Fernando.

Namita and Nelson are both long-serving members of the Bundaberg Emergency Department team and are deeply respected for their professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.

Their journey to this moment has been marked by dedication, not only to their roles but also to the community they now call home.

“It was a proud moment for me as the DEM Nurse Unit Manager to be invited to such a wonderful event,” Sue said.

“We are so fortunate to have Namita and Nelson on our team—they embody the values and heart of our department every day.”

Please join us in congratulating Namita and Nelson on becoming Australian citizens!
