Meet our latest Health Hero Bonnie Daly whose role as a Patient Experience Support Officer involves implementing quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and service delivery.

How long have you been with WBHHS?

Almost 10 years

How do you describe what you do?

I work closely with staff and consumers to identify opportunities to improve the healthcare experience. Using patient feedback and consumer insights, I support teams to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives that enhance person-centred care, improve service delivery, and create better outcomes for patients and their families.

What’s best about your job?

What I enjoy most about my role is seeing quality improvement initiatives come to life and make a real difference. It's rewarding to work with staff and consumers to implement positive changes and see how even small improvements can have a meaningful impact on a patient's healthcare experience. I enjoy the positive nature of the role, helping people, and seeing the lasting benefits that service improvements can have for patients, families, and the wider community.

What was your path into health care?

I didn't take a traditional clinical pathway into healthcare. My journey was driven by a passion for helping people and improving the way services are delivered. Through various roles, I developed a strong interest in patient experience and quality improvement, and I now enjoy working with teams to create positive changes that make a real difference for patients and the wider community.

What does being part of a team mean to you?

To me, being part of a team means knowing you can rely on the people around you and that you're all working together to make a difference. I'm lucky to work in a supportive team that genuinely cares about each other, shares knowledge, and encourages new ideas. The positive environment we have makes coming to work enjoyable and helps us achieve great outcomes together.

When you’re not at work, you are…

When I'm not at work, you'll usually find me at the gym, at the beach, or enjoying a walk along our beautiful coastline. I love spending quality time with my family and catching up with my amazing friends, making the most of the wonderful lifestyle our region has to offer.

What do you enjoy about living in Wide Bay?

One minute you can be walking along the coastline, and the next you're sitting by the water with a cocktail in hand watching whales swim past. It’s the kind of place people travel the world to visit, yet we get to call it home. We really do live in paradise!

Tell us a fun fact about you.

I've lived overseas for 13 years and love travelling and seeing the world. I enjoy exploring new places and experiencing different cultures. My other fun fact - I'm extremely clumsy, so no matter where I am in the world, I'm usually one trip away from creating a memorable story!

What song are you listening to most right now?

My music taste is pretty varied, but if I'm at the gym, it's anything upbeat that keeps me motivated and moving. My all-time favorite is Punk Rocker.
