Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme

If you live a rural, remote or regional area, and have to travel more than 50 km (from your closest public hospital or health facility) to access specialist health services, you may be eligible for the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme.

The scheme helps with travel and accommodation costs if you need to use specialist medical services that aren't available in your local area.

You can read more about the subsidy scheme and see if you're eligible on the Queensland Government website.

Interpreter services

Interpreters are free and you can use their services 24 hours a day.

You can ask for a Queensland interpreter card that you can show when you're using a government agency. This card lets staff know that you need an interpreter in the language printed on your card.

You can ask for a Queensland interpreter card by emailing MAQ@dlgrma.qld.gov.au.
