This October, Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS) turned pink for a great cause!
Teams and local GP practices went all out in our Breast Cancer Awareness Decorating Competition, creating vibrant displays that weren’t just beautiful but carried an important message: early detection saves lives.
BreastScreen Health Promotion Officer Kathryn Macann said the annual decorating competition was a fun way to remind everyone of this life-saving message.
“BreastScreen posters, balloons, and creative designs filled the departments and the GP practices, making it tough to choose winners,” she said.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian women, and 9 out of 10 women diagnosed have no family history.
That’s why regular screening is so important.
BreastScreen Queensland offers free breast screening for women aged 40 and over, with the program most effective for women aged 50 to 74.
A breast screen can find cancers before they can be seen or felt, giving women more treatment options and better outcomes.
