How do you describe what you do?
I assist Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander patients, who require services from the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS), by supporting their health journey from presentation to discharge.
I have a small team of people who complement our service and who are thorough, committed and caring.
I have connection to community and country and feel very grateful for the opportunity to work alongside dedicated WBHHS staff from Bundaberg to the Fraser Coast.
What's best about your job?
I enjoy working with our team, collaborating with other WBHHS staff, and providing care and support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, in partnership with community organisations.
I appreciate the continued learning opportunities I receive around health literacy and leadership.
What was your path into health care?
I started in healthcare with the IWC as a community health worker. An opportunity became available as a Womens Health Worker at Queensland Health in Bundaberg and I was encouraged by women in the community to throw my hat in, and here we are.
Working with Queensland Health has given me many opportunities in services from mental health, alcohol and other drugs, community health and now hospital liaison.
What does being part of a team mean to you?
It means sharing, caring, contributing, turning up, consideration, integrity, support and guidance.
When you're not at work you are.....
I like gardening, listening to music and karaoke. I also enjoy loving my grandson, speaking to my children, and spending time with my mum and extended family.
What do you enjoy about living in Wide Bay?
The whole of the Wide Bay is spectacular from the beach to the bush! The connections I have to community and country make me very happy and content with my lot in life.

I'm fun, that's just a fact (LOL). Nah gammin, I enjoy doing jigsaws.
What song are you listening to most right now?
Baba Waiar as I had to learn it to sing for our NAIDOC breakfast. It is a Torres Strait Island blessing song.
