When it comes to dedication and service, few people embody those values quite like Gayndah’s Senior Dental Technician, Noel Missenden.
This year, Noel celebrates an extraordinary 50 years with Queensland Health, a milestone that reflects a lifetime of craftsmanship, care, and community spirit.
Noel’s journey began when he was 15 years old, starting out as a dental technician apprentice with Queensland Health. Since then, he’s become a cornerstone of oral health services across the region, earning the respect and admiration of generations of colleagues and patients alike.
Over his career, Noel has contributed far more than technical expertise. He’s helped shape the future of local healthcare through his involvement in major projects, including the planning and design of the Mundubbera Dental Clinic and the renovation of the Gayndah Dental Clinic. He also credits his mentor, Dr Adrian Booth, for inspiring and supporting him as he qualified as a Dental Prosthetist.
Having witnessed the evolution of dentistry from traditional methods to the digital age, Noel has adapted with the times, embracing new technologies such as digital dentures while recognising the challenges and opportunities they bring.
Outside his professional role, Noel has also dedicated the past 13 years to serving as pastor of the Gayndah Presbyterian Church, extending his commitment to helping others beyond the workplace.
At the recent Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service Excellence Awards, Noel was honoured with the Excellence in Service Award for his 50 years of outstanding contribution.
“Noel’s half-century of dedication, craftsmanship, and compassion is an inspiration to us all,” WBHHS Chief Executive Debbie Carroll said.
“He’s made an enduring difference not just to his colleagues and patients, but to the entire community.”
