How long have you been with WBHHS?

Six years.

How do you describe what you do?

My job involves enhancing human well-being and helping to meet the basic and complex needs of patients with a particular focus on those who are vulnerable, oppressed and recovering from complex trauma post sexual assault and termination of pregnancy.

What's best about your job?

I like working with passionate staff who go above and beyond to meet the needs of patients requiring complex care and being able to instil a sense of hope and resilience in patients who are recovering from trauma.

What was your path into healthcare?

I was a practice manager for a physiotherapy clinic which closed operations. I always had a keen interest in helping others and decided to commence my career in Social Work, completing the Master’s program.

Upon graduating, I moved to Mount Isa and commenced employment with the Mount Isa Base Hospital Social Work team and worked for a community-based organisation in their Counselling Intervention Service program.

What does being part of a team mean to you?

Being part of a team means working in collaboration with others to achieve a common goal or outcome for the greater good.

When you're not at work you are....

Running around after my toddler.

What do you enjoy about living in Wide Bay?

I enjoy living in a town where it only takes a 4-minute drive from A to B.  I also enjoy the swift flight to Brisbane.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

My Rocky Road is better than Darrell Lea.

What song are you listening to most right now?

Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan.
