The Allied Health Acute Rehab Service (AHARS) at Hervey Bay Hospital has marked its second anniversary.

This milestone is celebrated with pride and appreciation for the team's dedication to providing exceptional care.

AHARS, a specialised unit within HBH, offers intensive Allied Health therapy during the acute rehabilitation phase of patient admission.

The primary aim is to optimise patient recovery and facilitate smooth transitions to inpatient rehab or direct discharge, ultimately reducing hospital length of stay.

The service's small yet highly dedicated team, comprising senior physiotherapist Ashleigh Mason, physiotherapist Hannah-Mae Sempf, occupational therapist Aleisha Martin, and advanced clinical assistant Lisa Stimpson, has seen and treated almost 700 patients over the past two years.

Their collective efforts have made a significant impact on the therapy and helped patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Their commitment to the "right patient, right place, first time" philosophy reflects in the tangible results and positive feedback from patients and their families.
